News:
Defending champions Chelsea are facing a massive confidence crisis at the club and it could be compounded if they lose to Everton this weekend.

english-premier-league

The Blues are on a lean run in their last few games, culminating in a dismal 1-1 draw against Newcastle last week. Andy Carroll had given the Magpies a shock lead after capitalizing on an error from Alex, but Salomon Kalou had equalized for Chelsea. Manager Carlo Ancelotti said he is relaxed about his side’s form, but revealed that he was anxious to see John Terry and Frank Lampard back on the pitch. The former could indeed return for this game, although he may not feature for the full 90 minutes.

Meanwhile Everton will also be looking to end a dismal few weeks for them The Toffees sank to a 1-4 loss to West Brom at home last week thanks to goals from Paul Scharner, Chris Brunt and Somen Tchoyi. Sylvan Distin scored a late own goal. Tim Cahill pulled one back for Everton late in the first half. Manager David Moyes was disappointed with his side’s showing and will be without Mikel Arteta for this game after the latter was sent off in the game against the Baggies.

Manchester City will need to start churning out wins on a regular basis starting with their game against Bolton this week if they are to pose a serious challenge for the title.

english-premier-league

The Citizens have shown indifferent form of late and were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke City following their brilliant 4-1 win over Fulham last fortnight. In the game against the Potters, Micah Richards had given Manchester City the lead on 81 minutes, but Matthew Etherington equalized late in injury time to rescue a point. Manager Roberto Mancini was disappointed with his side’s showing and will hope for better returns at home against Bolton this weekend.

Meanwhile the Trotters were held to a 2-2 draw by Blackpool at the Reebok Stadium last week. Goals from Ian Evatt and Luke Varney had put Blackpool 2-0 up by 57 minutes, but late goals from Martin Petrov and Mark Davies evened things up and helped the home side salvage a point. Manager Owen Coyle will be happy with his side’s fighting spirit and will hope they can display more of it in the coming games.

News:

Arsenal will hope to continue winning and put pressure on Chelsea and Manchester United at the top of the league table when they welcome Fulham this weekend.
english-premier-league
The Gunners bounced back from a nightmarish fortnight last weekend when they beat Aston Villa 2-4 away from home. Goals from Andrey Arshavin, Samir Nasri, Marouane Chamakh and Jack Wilshire nullified a brace from Ciaran Clark and relieved the pressure on manager Arsene Wenger. The latter though is under fire from fans and critics alike as the club has gone without silverware for the last five years. The form of Wilshire will be heartening for Wenger, but he will continue to be worried about the injury status of skipper Cesc Fabregas, who is out for at least three weeks with a hamstring issue.
Fulham on the other hand are struggling to replicate the splendid form that saw them reach the finals of the europa league last season. New boss Mark Hughes faces a huge task of motivating his team. Last week, the Cottagers held Birmingham to a 1-1 draw with Clint Dempsey nullifying Sebastian Larsson’s 20th minute strike. Fulham have now gone five league games without a win and will be keen to end the drought in this game.
