Chelsea will have the opportunity to take revenge for their 2008 Champions League final defeat at the hands of Manchester United when they meet the Red Devils in the quarterfinals of the same tournament on Wednesday night.

Chelsea probably had the easiest route into the quarterfinals amongst the eight teams in the fray. The Blues were pitted against Danish minnows FC Copenhagen in the previous round and comfortably prevailed 2-0 on aggregate against the Scandinavians.

Manchester United overcame French giants Olympique Marseille in the Round of 16. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men drew the first leg 0-0 away at Stade Velodrome and then won 2-1 at Old Trafford thanks to a brace from Mexican wonder kid Javier Hernandez.

United have not won at Stamford Bridge since 2002, when goals from Paul Scholes, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the Red Devils a 3-0 win. Chelsea also won 2-1 when the two sides met last month. On that occasion, goals from Frank Lampard and David Luiz gave the Blues a comeback win after Wayne Rooney’s first half opener for United.
