Manchester City will be keen to continue with their title push as they take on Blackburn this weekend.
The Citizens are currently placed third on the league table with 35 points from 19 games played so far. Last week they beat Newcastle by a 3-1 margin thanks to a brace from Carlos Tevez and a goal from Gareth Barry. Andy Carroll pulled one back for the Magpies in the 72ndminute. Manager Roberto Mancini will be pleased with his side’s showing and will be especially heartened by Tevez’s show just weeks after he handed in a transfer request.
Meanwhile Blackpool have has to cool their heels after their big game against Liverpool was called off due to foul weather. Manager Ian Holloway knows his players are rusty and need match practice, but he will be wary of Manchester City. The Seasiders play Sunderland during the mid-week and will be without skipper Charlie Adam as he misses out with a suspension. However Adam will be back for this one although it remains to be seen if he continues to play at Bloomfield Road given the interest from big clubs in January.
