Manchester United will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the premiership table when they travel to West Brom on New Year Day.

West Brom’s campaign has gone off-track in recent months and the postponement of a handful of games due to bad weather has also not helped. On Boxing Day, the Baggies lost 2-0 to Bolton thanks to goals from Matt Taylor and Johan Elmander. While manager Roberto Di Matteo is not panicking as yet, fans are surely concerned about their side’s survival chances.

Meanwhile Manchester United took another step towards a record 19^th league title with a facile 2-0 win over Sunderland on Boxing Day. A brace from Dimitar Berbatov put United two points ahead of Arsenal with one game in hand. Boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be delighted with his side’s showing and although Wayne Rooney is yet to regain his form, he will be happy with Berba’s exploits.

The reverse fixture between these two sides had ended in a 2-2 draw in October and United will be keen to avoid the same result this time around.
