It’s the London derby this Boxing Day as Arsenal welcome champions Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners faced familiar criticism of bottling up in big games following their 1-0 loss to Manchester United last fortnight. Skipper Cesc Fabregas admitted his side had to start getting results in these big games and this one against Chelsea affords the Gunners that chance. Manager Arsene Wenger continues to be without Abou Diaby and Thomas Vermaelen, but Nicklas Bendtner could be back for this one.
Meanwhile the enforced break that saw their game against Man United postponed will have done Chelsea a world of good as they prepare to bounce back from a couple of woeful months. Chelsea are currently 4th on the league table with 31 points from 17 games. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that the bleak period is over and that his side is ready to bounce back. They will be boosted by the return of Frank Lampard for this game after his absence for the last 8 weeks through injuries.
