Customer: “Euro Poznań 2012″ Sp. z o.o.
Construction period: 2008 – 2010
Location: Posen
Country Poland
The city stadium in Poznań is located near the city centre, at the crossroads of the streets Bułgarska and Ptasia. During EURO 2012™, football matches will be played here during the group phase. The football club KKS Lech Poznań is the main user of the arena, although concerts, events and cultural functions are also held there.
The stadium has been completely modernised. At the same time, capacity has been increased to approximately 43,000 spectators. In the first phase of construction, the “U-shape” of the stadium was closed by adding the missing stands. During modernisation, the stands were also completely covered with a roof. The roof of the stadium is a membrane covering in the colour of natural silk, which is divided into modules. This gives the impression of an undulating surface. One section of the roof over Stand II is a moveable construction that ensures perfect illumination of the grass playing surface.
Employees performed a major logistical feat during the conversion project. The Polish first division team KKS Lech Poznań continued to use the stadium for its home games with a regular attendance of around 20,000 fans.
