Arsene Wenger will be hoping to celebrate his 13th anniversary at Arsenal by helping his side register their third straight victory when they welcome Blackburn Rovers in their next match on Sunday. The 59-year old Frenchman became Arsenal's longest serving manager last week and will be keen to mark his achievement by helping his side collect their first trophy in five years. With Arsenal declaring record profits, Wenger has transfer funds available should he require a new player but has revealed that he already has a top class team and will not be signing any new players in the January transfer window just for the sake of getting a new player.
Arsenal go into the match high on confidence following their comfortable 2-0 victory over Olympiakos in their Champions League tie in the midweek. Robin Van Persie opened the scoring late in the second half before Andrei Arshavin wrapped up the points four minutes from the final whistle. Wenger will be facing off against a familiar opponent with Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce keen to continue his good form against Arsenal. Allardyce's Bolton Wanderers side managed to collect points time and again against Arsenal and the 54-year old will be hoping to repeat the performance with Blackburn this weekend.
Blackburn secured only their second win of the season as they staged a come from behind victory over Aston Villa. Gabriel Agbonlahor had given Villa an early lead in the 3rd minute but Christopher Samba equalized midway through the first half before David Dunn wrapped up the points from the penalty spot two minutes before the final whistle.
