Sunderland will he hoping to spring a surprise this weekend as they take on Manchester United in their next game
The Black Cats emerged from a lively game against Liverpool last week with one point thanks to a 2-2 draw. Two goals from Darren Bent were nullified by strikes from Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard in a feisty game, where the attention was on referee Stuart Atwell. United were rescued by goals from Nani and Michael Owen. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson will assess the fitness of Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney ahead of this game. If Rooney fails to regain fitness, Owen may be handed a rare starting spot this weekend.
