Everton will be hoping to collect all three points and move up the league table when they meet Wigan this weekend.
The Toffees have had a bad start to the season and are languishing at the 15th spot on the league table with 17 points from 16 games played so far. Last fortnight, Everton slumped to a 1-4 loss to West Brom in a game that was totally disappointing for manager David Moyes. They followed it up with an improved performance against defending champions Chelsea, holding the Blues to a 1-1 draw last week. Didier Drogba's 41st minute penalty had given Chelsea a 1-0 lead, but a 86th minute goal from Jermaine Beckford gave Everton a point from this game.
Meanwhile Wigan continue to sit deep in the drop zone, a situation that has become worrisome for fans. Last week they managed to avoid defeat by holding Stoke City to a 2-2 draw. Robert Huth gave the visitors a lead in the 18th minute, but an own goal from Danny Collins evened things up in the 30th minute. Matthew Etherington put the Potters back in front on 31 minutes, but on-loan star Tom Cleverly nullified that strike in the 40th minute. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is under immense pressure to get his team out of the drop zone and will see this game as an ideal one as Everton have had a horror start to the season.
