Real Madrid will welcome French club Auxerre to the Bernabeu to play in their Champion’s League Group G fixture on Wednesday 8 December.
The Spanish super club suffered a monumental defeat last Monday against their arch rivals Barcelona so this game against Auxerre could become something of a backlash performance. With Qualification already in the bag for the Madrid team they should field a weak side against Auxerre which could be seen as either a punishment from Jose Mourinho or the sensible side of management resting the players so that they can keep their league title hopes alive.
Auxerre should not prove to be too much of a challenge as they have lost four of their five games in the group to date. With only three goals scored compared to Real Madrid’s eleven so far they will have a tough evening trying to produce a face saving performance. Joe Mourinho will most likely play Ruiz and Benzema up front with Ramos making the most of the champion’s league after receiving a suspension for pushing Puyol’s face in La Liga.
