Tottenham will be confident of cashing in on Chelsea’s woes when the two sides clash on Sunday.
Spurs have had an indifferent season so far even though they occupy the fifth spot on the league table. Last week they were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham despite taking the lead through Sebastien Bassong. Craig Gardener pulled things back for Birmingham in the 81st minute to ensure that his side grabbed at least one point. Manager Harry Redknapp will be disappointed with his side’s inconsistency, but will be confident that his side can beat Chelsea on Sunday.
Meanwhile Chelsea continued to flounder after being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton last week. Didier Drogba had given the Blues a lead in the 41st minute, but a goal from Jermaine Beckford in the 86th minute ensured a draw. Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti appears to be struggling to motivate his side and even the return of John Terry did not help matters last week. Michael Essien and Frank Lampard continue to be sidelined with injuries. Ancelotti knows his side will need to start winning games; else they will lose ground in the title race.
