Manchester United will be looking to maintain their excellent home form and hold on to their two point lead at the top of the table by registering another victory when they welcome Sunderland on Sunday.
United have the best home form in the league so far, winning eight of the nine games played at Old Trafford and dropping just two points. While Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all struggling for consistency, United have won their last three games to go two points clear of second placed Arsenal with a game in hand over their nearest rivals.
Sunderland on the other hand have struggled on their travels, winning just one of their nine games though a return of eight points should satisfy manager Steve Bruce.
The Black Cats have put up some excellent performances in their last few games to climb to sixth in the league table, emerging as possible contenders for a place in the Europa League next season though Bruce reiterated that a top half finish remains his main aim this season.
The Black Cats came close to snatching a shock victory over United at the Stadium of Light early this season but had to settle for a point. Sunderland have a fairly decent record away to United, managing to avoid defeat on two of their last five visits to Old Trafford.
