AC Milan will be hopeful that their home advantage will provide an extra impetus when they welcome Real Madrid in their next Champions League match on Wednesday.

Milan suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat in their last match at the Santiago Bernabeu with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mezut Ozil scoring a goal each in space of two minutes. With Ajax securing all three points against Auxerre, the Dutch side has pulled level on points with Milan in the race for the second qualifying spot to the next round.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri was disappointed with his side’s display and though he admitted that Madrid were the better side, he was critical of his side’s defensive performance that allowed Madrid to take a two goal lead early in the first half.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho on the other hand was delighted with his side’s performance and will now be looking to lead his side to their first win at San Siro in more than 13 visits. Madrid have lost 10 games and managed to draw just two in their previous 12 visits to Milan against both Inter Milan and AC Milan and Mourinho will be keen to help his side break their duck on Wednesday.
