Manchester United will be hoping to further narrow the gap at the top of the premiership table when they travel to Aston Villa this weekend.
The Red Devils managed to escape from jail with a 2-1 win over Wolves thanks to a stunning brace from Ji-Sung Park. The latter had given them the lead only for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to nullify that strike. Just when it looked like United would drop two more points, Park shot home in the dying seconds of the game to give them all three points. Sir Alex Ferguson, who continues to be without the injured Wayne Rooney, will hope that his side starts winning games on a consistent basis leading up to the Christmas period. United are involved in the Manchester derby during the midweek prior to taking on Villa on Saturday.
Meanwhile Aston Villa continue to hunt for their first league win since September after settling for a 1-1 draw against Fulham last week. Marc Albrighton had put them ahead early on at Craven Cottage, but Fulham defender Brede Hangeland headed in a 94th-minute equalizer from a free-kick taken by skipper Danny Murphy to snatch one point. Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier will hope his side can give a better account against Blackpool on Wednesday prior to the game against United on Saturday.
