Chelsea will be hoping to recover from their disappointing performance against Liverpool by getting back to winning ways when they welcomeSunderland in their next match on Sunday
The Blues went into the game against Liverpool as clear favorites to secure a comfortable victory but a timely return to form of Fernando Torres saw the Spanish international smash home two brilliant goals to condemn Chelsea to only its second defeat of the new season.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti was disappointed with the result but will be banking on his side’s brilliant home record to collect all three points against Sunderland this weekend. The Blues have won all of their five games in front of their home crowd, scoring 16 goals in the process and are yet to concede at Stamford Bridge.
Sunderland on the other hand are yet to win away from the Stadium of Light this season, collecting just three points from their five away games, conceding 9 goals in the process. Manager Steve Bruce will be keen to set that record straight with his side’s recent good form taking them into the top half of the league table.
New signing Asamoah Gyan is expected to hold on to his place in the starting lineup after impressing against Stoke while Chelsea could welcome back Frank Lampard who has missed the recent games due to injuries
