Manchester United will be looking to secure a comfortable passage to a third successive Carling Cup semi final match when they take on West Ham in their fifth round clash on Tuesday.

With just Arsenal representing a major challenge in the competition, United manager Alex Ferguson will be aware that his side has a great chance of winning the Carling Cup third time in a row. United progressed to the fifth round thanks to a thrilling 3-2 win over Wolves which included a 90th minute winner by Javier Hernandez.

West Ham on the other hand have found some joy in the Carling Cup after a poor start to the season and manager Avram Grant will be hopeful that a victory on Tuesday will provide his team with a much needed boost as he looks to help his side climb out of the relegation zone.

Both the teams have met in the competition just once before with United securing a narrow 1-0 win back in 1985-86 season.
