Arsenal will be hoping to recover from a shock defeat against local rivals Tottenham when they travel to Aton Villa this weekend.
The Gunners succumbed 2-3 at the Emirates Stadium in the London derby against Spurs despite dominating the first half and taking a seemingly invincible 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Sanir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh. However second half goals from Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul gave Spurs a historic win and left manager Arsene Wenger in despair. The Gunners now face Braga in the champions league during the mid-week, for which Robin van Persie, Andrei Arshavin and Gael Clichy have been rested.
Meanwhile Aston Villa were laid low by Blackburn who won 2-0 thanks to a brace from Morten Gamst Pedersen. Watched by their new owners, the Rovers gave a splendid display, which left Villa manager Gerard Houllier to lament the lack of consistency shown by his team. Houllier will be hoping for a better performance at home this weekend, but will be wary of a wounded Arsenal.
