Liverpool will be hoping to continue their recent vein of form when they visit Wigan on Wednesday.
The Reds have shrugged away some woeful displays from the start of the season, which saw them sit deep in the relegation zone. The narrow victories over Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers followed by the 3-1 win over Napoli in the Europa League have injected fresh hope among fans.
Manager Roy Hodgson described the win over Napoli as the best 90 minutes of his time with the club and he will be looking forward to more such game in the next future. With the Reds slated to play Chelsea on Sunday, it will be interesting to see how the team takes on Wigan.
Meanwhile the Latics have every possibility of getting dragged into a relegation battle. Manager Roberto Martinez will be hopeful that they can avoid such a fate. But to do that Wigan will need to win some games, starting with the Liverpool tie on Wednesday. Emmerson Boyce and James McCarthy continue to remain sidelined for the Latics, but skipper Gary Caldwell could start this game.
