Liverpool will be hoping to continue their revival when they take on Stoke City this weekend.
The Reds have shrugged off a miserable start to the season with 3 wins on the trot; the latest being a fine 2-0 win over defending champions Chelsea. A brace from Fernando Torres settled that game in Liverpool’s favor and left boss Roy Hodgson a delighted man. With Torres finally finding some of his devastating form, Hodgson will be hoping to reap rich rewards and push the club into contention for European spots at the end of the season.
Meanwhile Stoke City are perilously close to the relegation zone following their 2-0 loss to Sunderland last week. A brace from Asamoah Gyan gave the Black Cats all three points and left Stoke boss Tony Pulis fuming over some contentious decisions. Ryan Shawcross is ineligible for the mid-week game against Birmingham following his sending off in the Sunderland game, but should return for this game. Pulis has no injury concerns and should field his first-choice eleven for this game.
