News: Manchester City take on Birmingham this weekend hoping to have shrugged off the blues, which threatened their title credentials barely a fortnight ago.
Mario Balotelli returned to the starting line-up for City to score a brace and given them a much-needed 2-0 win over West Brom last week. However the Italian was red-carded, which means he may miss the mid-week Manchester derby. City have launched an appeal for the red card. Meanwhile the return of skipper Carlos Tevez means manager Roberto Mancini can put out his strongest team on Wednesday against local rival United.
Birmingham, on the other hand, fought back valiantly to hold West Ham to a 2-2 draw last week. The Hammers looked to be on course for a first away win of their season after Frederic Piquionne and Valon Behrami had put them 2-0 up within the hour. However goals from Cameron Jerome and Liam Ridgewell gave Birmingham one point from the game. The good news for boss Alex McLeish is that Craig Gardner and Jean Beausejour have regained fitness and should make it to the starting line-up, when the Blues play against Stoke on Tuesday.
