Chelsea will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Champions League to four games when they welcome Spartak Moscow in their next match on Wednesday
The Blues are keen to banish the disappointment of last season’s knockout stage defeat to Inter Milan and have started their new campaign in a determined fashion, winning all of their opening three games and scoring eight goals and conceding just one in the process.
Chelsea secured a morale boosting victory at the Luzhniki Stadium, the venue where they lost the Champions League final two years ago, as goals from Yuri Zhirkov and Nicolas Anelka steered them to a comfortable victory over Spartak in their last match.
While the Blues are confident of another comfortable victory on Wednesday, Spartak coach Valeri Karpin will be expecting a vastly improved performance from his side and get at least a point from the game that will see them remain in the second spot in the group table.
Karpin will be hoping to take advantage of a Chelsea side weakened by the absence of Frank Lampard with the midfielder yet to recover from his groin injury.
